Paintball time!!!!!

Ok so I have been into paintball since I was a young teen. But never got to play for one reason or another. Well I'm making the effort to go play again. Which is 2 part. 1 Because I still love the thrill of playing and 2, I need something to help keep my fat @$$ in shape. Which leads me to my additions to my gear.

First off, lets start with my vest. I picked up a lower end vest from GXG. The one I got is their Tactical Vest. Not a bad item for under 40 bucks. Loads of pockets, and almost limitless adjustment. Yeah there are a lot more options out there but they also cost way more. Less then 40 bucks, SOLD! Maybe down the line I will upgrade, but that will be WAY down the line...

Next up, another item from GXG, their Tactical pack. Notice I'm going with a tactical theme? Must be some want to be hard core.... Naw :) But back to the pack. I wanted something nicer and more easy to tote around all my gear in and not be a suite case. Yes I had a suite case for all my gear, I know, sad. But this pack is nice, with loads of room for just about everything I bring along. I have my marker (sweet Tippmann A5 BTW)in the back where you can hide your marker. In side the pack I still have enough room to store my mask, vest and camo. And the outter pockets I have my paint pods and tanks... Like I said, loads of room. And again it was not a bank breaker. This was 50 bucks. So for less then 100 bucks you have 2 items that are rather nice but were not too bad on my wallet.

So yeah there are nicer and better options out there for a gear bag and for a vest, but seriously, those cost a lot more...

SkullCandy Titan in-ear bods.

So I have had these in-ear buds, for a better part of a year now. Well not these black ones, but rather I have a copper colored pair. And I have to say they are sweet, not awesome though. The pair I purchased off Amazon.com were a season or two old but still rock it! See the pair I have used a foam like ear bud that is much like those neon orange hearing protection plugs that OHSA makes some people (or wives with annoying husbands) wear.

You know, I really do like these ear buds, but have to say that I do have a few issues, first when you wear them you need to make sure you route the cable in such a way that it wont get caught on something, the other well lets say the cable gets a little sticky from moisture (sweat you sickos!)... Those are really my only to complaints. The sound is nice and rich. Bass is deep and the highs are well, high. And with these foam tips on them you really can not hear anything around you, even when you have the sound turned down. Which is a good and bad thing... I mean what more can I say? They have good sound, I didn't pay much, thats not to say you wont, and they are good for just about all uses when you want to tune out the world. If you can buy them for 20ish bucks then get them, if not don't. I'm sorry I'm a little on the cheap side.

Now back to rocking out with Pandora or Slacker as my musical guide...

Pocket Tool X Brewzer

So first off I want to say sorry to Pocket Tool X. And here is why, this post should not have taken this long to get up. But life has a way of being, well life. So Sorry guys!

Wow, I feel better now, ON WITH THE POST.

So me being the gadget geek that I am, Uber Gadget Geek that is, I have a soft spot for gadgets of all shapes and sizes. And multi-tools, well they are slowly turning into a collectors thing for me. And I blame my mates over on multitool.org. Which leads me to the
Brewzer, and the guys at Pocket Tool X. Well I got on their Facebook Page and entered a small give away they were holding. Well holy spandex batman I was one of the lucky few to get a Brewzer! They have a few other products so they are worth a look.

So what is this little bite of 154CM Stainless Steel goodness? A bottle opener, a very awesome bottle opener. Yes everyone under the sun has a bottle opener on their key chain, so what makes this one any different? Well it is more then just a novelty item or a single tasker, no this is perfect for the budding college student that is really thirsty. Will it open my favorite bottle beverage? Yep, and it will open up those drinks that are hiding in an aluminum can as well. But those cans must hide in fear as the Brewzer also has the ability to poke open a hole in the bottom for those times when you really (and I mean really) need to drink something fast. But with that being said, you can honestly use the multi-purpose tip for opening packages (like those you get from really awesome vendors like Pocket Tool X) to even using the edge to pry something open/off. You know, like that bottle cap that is implanted on your head after you 'fell asleep at the party'.

So at the end of the day would I say buy it? YES! But that's just me, and well I could be wrong. But hey its 20 bucks, it is small (really small) and it opens bottles BETTER than my Atwood Atwrench. Yes I said better, sorry Peter. Oh and while you are shopping on Pocket Tool X's site, make sure you take a look at the Piranha, it was their first showing of a tool and I think it was done rather well. Oh and Pocket Tool X, if you are so inclined I'd love to 'review' more of your products... I'm just sayin :)

BTW the image is from Pocket Tool X's website, rights, respect, and props are given to them

Ooma

Well I was tossing around ideas of what to write about. I figure I can share what I know about Ooma, and how much I love not paying for home phone service. I was paying close to 60 bucks a month for phone service, thats a lot of wasted money considering I never used it. Like most I want to save some money every month. Enter Ooma, it is a stand alone VOIP system. VOIP (voice of IP) is in my opinion is where home phone service is moving. They currently offer the the 'Telo' and what I have 'Hub' and 'Scout'.
So let me start with the reason why I picked Ooma over any other option. I came across Ooma from actually looking up directions on how to change out the keyboard on a Blackberry. After really looking into it I was sold, aside from having to pay a nice chunk o'change for the hardware. But I fiured with the 220ish bucks I spent, I spent more then that in 6 months with my old land line service (you know the one I was never using). With that being said, as far as the hardware goes, the 'Hub' sits up with my ISP Router. And the 'Scout' is living on the wall in my kitchen. Yes my wife said we had to have a phone in the kitchen, on the wall, 1970's style. So we have a phone on the wall (70's style) with the 'Scout' hooked up to it.
Now you might be wondering, how much does it cost? Well if you bought it a while ago (by the end of last year) it was 100% free. But now they have a small fee, I really mean small. After the second year of service its like 12 bucks a year. And if you want Voice mail that's an extra 50 bucks a year. All in all its 65 bucks. Who can say they can pay for a YEAR of phone service for 65 bucks a year? Remember I said I use to pay that much in a month.
How does it sound? I have to say that it sounds just like the over priced land line I had in the past. The only thing that I dont like is with the 70's phone we have the people on the other end say they hear echoing. Well I tried everything I could. In the end the fix was just stop using it. We have a wireless phone set that has a remote phone that is in out living room. On the wireless phones, the sound is perfect.
I can say that when people ask about phone service I will always recommend Ooma. Why not have your cake and eat it too? Go forth my fellow readers (all two of you) and look into it. Its worth the cost savings, trust me.

First Shameless Plug

Well I might as well start off blogging with a shameless plug for a co-worker. He is a fellow gadget geek, but keeps to the kitchen gadgets. I have his RSS feed coming into my Outlook account (but someone, not mentioning names, hasn't posted this week). I hope that you will enjoy the humor in his posts, there is good info, with his touch to it. OK here's the shameless plug. Check out unfork.com and tell him Eric sent you.

Man, this is brings me back to my childhood. My kids are currently watching 'Jetsons, The Movie' I am left wondering where my flying car is?
